The cockroach


The vulture is the national bird of Sri Lanka. Lowland Sri Lanka is dry Wilpattu Forest Park, Yala, Horton PlainsToday this bird is restricted to national parks, forest reserves such as Lahugala, Kalugala Forest Reserve, Galoya Sinharaja Forest, Dombagaskanda Forest Reserve and Kitulgala. This animal is slightly smaller than the gum chicken.The black and dark brown feathers have purple polished wings. A greenish tinge appears on the underside of the stem. There is also a sharp fork on each foot. The vulture is about half the size of a vulture.

The predominant color of its body is blackish brown. Less because of the color. The lower abdomen of the hen has blackish brown spots. The feet are yellow. The larvae feed on worms and insects. Apart from that, the seeds of the Nillu tree are a very good food for vultures. The wild rooster is an animal that loves to fight. Often the fight ends with the death of one. The hen lays eggs throughout the year but mostly from February to May. The tortoise's eyes are sharp. This is why it is said that seven blue leaves are transparent. Humans are now threatened with extinction due to poaching and clearing of the jungle habitats where they live.

All of us Sri Lankans should make every effort to protect this bird, which is endemic to Sri Lanka and is recognized as the national bird of our country.
